Playboy will open its first Playboy Club in India

Though its magazines are banned in the country, Playboy will open its first Playboy Club in India, in the beach side city of Goa.
But the iconic bunnies won't be as revealing as they are in other clubs.
To satisfy the country’s obscenity laws, Indian company PB Lifestyle, who will operate the brand’s franchise in India, says the traditional revealing bunny outfit with bodices, bow ties, bunny ears and bunny tails will be tamed.
"We are clear about one thing: There will absolutely be no nudity. The bunnies will be suited to Indian sensibilities and moral values," says Sanjay Gupta, CEO of PB Lifestyle, in a local India Times report.
Instead, the attractions will focus on the glamor and lifestyle of the brand, he said.
The new costume will be revealed at the club’s launch in mid-December.
The 2,043-square-meter club will be located on a beach at Candolim in the western state of Goa.
It will be the first beach location for the club globally.
India is a conservative society where kissing in public is considered taboo. Plans for the club are likely to face opposition.
In a comment on a report in the Times of India, S. Suri, from Goa, said: "if not a shame to the culture of Goa, [the club is] surely a shock to residents of Goa and in particular of Calangute and Candolim."
Sunita Colaco from Mumbai agreed, "Playboy no matter how it portrays itself, was created to promote sexuality aka nudity."
The California-based adult entertainment brand has over forty Playboy Clubs worldwide.
The Playboy adult magazine, as well as other publications, is banned in India.
PB Lifestyle is planning to build more establishments in India with Playboy brand, including a second Playboy Club in Hyderabad as well as hotels and cafes, according to Times of India.
